Archilab, a leading player in Swiss and international architecture, is making a name for itself with its emblematic projects and its constant quest for innovation, combining historical sensitivity and sustainability to meet the growing demands of a global clientele.
After thirty-five years of excellence, Archilab and its thirty collaborators now enjoy an international reputation. Based mainly in Switzerland, this architecture and urban planning office has designed emblematic projects such as the MSC headquarters in Geneva, the Martin Bodmer Foundation in Cologny, the Élysée Photography Museum in Lausanne, the future automobile museum in Pregny, and the new medical research centre in Genolier. Archilab is also renowned for its many residential buildings and individual villas, which have often won awards and been praised by the specialized press.
Beyond Switzerland's borders, Archilab has extended its expertise with projects such as the Swiss International School in Dubai, the Clinique La Prairie in Doha, shopping centres in Mauritania and Denmark, in addition to residential buildings in France and Italy.
This book celebrates the work of a team that, like a laboratory, is constantly innovating for a demanding clientele, while integrating the crucial issues of historical sensitivity and sustainability.
Gabriele M. Rossi, who graduated in architecture and urban planning from Columbia University in 1985, contributed to the planning of Battery Park City in New York before joining EPFL in 1989. That same year, he founded Archilab. With over 500 projects completed in Switzerland and abroad, the firm has distinguished itself through prestigious competitions and major projects such as the MSC headquarters in Geneva, the Élysée Museum in Lausanne, and the Clinique La Prairie in Doha. The texts are by Yves Dreier, associate architect at Dreier Frenzel Architecture + Communication and architecture critic in Lausanne. The preface is by Philip Jodidio, American writer and art critic.
